SOOTHSOFT COMFORT TECHNOLOGY® A synergy between specialised materials, fluids and laws of thermodynamics that creates a dry, powerless, thermo-regulating and memory foam effect – this is the science behind SoothSoft Comfort Technology®. This new way to keep people cool has tremendous application as it provides comfort without power, pollution, moisture or maintenance. SoothSoft Comfort Technology® products feel mildly cool and perfectly comfortable without refrigeration.
Being cold or hot is uncomfortable – that's why SoothSoft Comfort Technology® is so popular. While it keeps the user cool, it never makes them cold because it acts as a heat sink and radiator all in one. This amassing product absorbs heat, unlike foams/fabrics and then radiates heat away from the user continuously, much like a radiator in a car. A radiator works to keep a car's 250 degree engine cool by using water to help dissipate heat to the air. Hot fluid enters the radiator, loses its heat and the cooled water travels back through the system to begin the process again.
Likewise, SoothSoft products absorb body heat continually and discharge the absorbed heat back to the surrounding environment. It consistently feels cool as the consumer is always warmer than the product. Unlike most other cooling products this technology is refreshing – not overly cold, wet, seat prone or uncomfortable. This science is simple, functional, versatile, enjoyable, unique, maintenance free and just plain COOL!

PERMAGARD® from Carrington
Canine Cooler Covers are treated with PERMAGARD® finish to keep them clean and fresh. It delivers the following benefits:
- Effective control and growth prevention of a wide range of bacteria, fungi,
algae and yeast
- Long term durability - tested with over 100 washes at 65°C
- Enhanced hygiene by the inhibition of odour causing bacteria and fungi

The requirement for a fabric which will control the growth of bacteria and fungi is not new and many different approaches have been tried over the years.
Most methods of controlling bacteria rely upon a 'poison' contained in either the fibre or in a finish applied to the fabric, to prevent them from multiplying. To be effective the 'poison' has to be slowly released from the fabric, and inevitably it is eventually exhausted.
The effective life depends on many factors,
including washing conditions, and is impossible to determine without
sophisticated laboratory testing facilities.
There is also considerable concern amongst many medical and health specialists that the widespread use of these types of products could result in the creation, through mutation, of bacteria strains which are resistant to all exisiting antibiotics.
Recognising both the requirement for an anti-bacterial fabric and the problems associated with it, Carrington have developed a completely new finish under the name Permagard, which can be applied to a wide range of Polyester/Cotton, and 100% Polyester fabrics.
Unlike other products, Permagard does NOT rely on the slow release of a bacteriacide, but utilises a mechanism which penetrates the cell wall of the bacteria only on contact with it. Because it is not being continuously released, it is not being used up.

Field trials followed by microbiological testing have shown that Permagard is still effective after 100 washes @ 65°C. The performance of Permagard has also been evaluated and verified by the Hospital Infection Control Research Laboratory of the Birmingham City Hospital NHS Trust.
